About Wafflr
Why We Started Wafflr
Honestly, we were just a group of friends from Irvine who missed each other after high school. Our group chats turned into random meme dumps, and FaceTime calls were impossible to schedule across different time zones. Meanwhile, scrolling through Instagram or TikTok felt more like watching strangers perform than staying in touch with real friends.
So we tried a simple experiment: each of us recorded a quick video update once a week—nothing fancy, no filters, just whatever we were up to—and shared it in a private chat. It turned into the highlight of our weeks. We suddenly felt more in sync with each other's everyday moments than we ever did with normal social media.
That's where Wafflr came from. We realized that if weekly 2-minute videos helped us stay close—even though we were scattered across the country—maybe it could help other people too. We built the app around that ritual, hoping everyone could experience the same comfort and closeness we found with our own friend group.
The Ethos Behind Wafflr
1. Weekly Ritual Over Daily Noise
Once a week, drop a quick 2-minute "waffle," watch your friends' updates, then get back to living your real life.
2. Vulnerability > Perfection
No filters, no staged poses. Share your messy dorm room, your crazy hair—whatever's real.
3. Small Groups, Big Heart
We built "Stacks" because sharing real updates with five true friends hits different than broadcasting to hundreds.
4. Respect Your Time
No doomscrolling, no manipulative algorithms. Just genuine moments, once a week.
5. People First, Business Second
We'll never chase clout or bombard you with ads at the expense of authentic connection.
We hope Wafflr brings you the same tight-knit feeling it's given us.
Just some kids from the 949.
